SLCL invites nominations for the Dissertation Completion Fellowship, which provides advanced doctoral students with an academic year of support to complete their dissertations. Eligible candidates are nominated by their departments.
The fellowship is meant to facilitate timely completion of the PhD; therefore, nominees must be able to complete their dissertations within the period of their fellowship tenure, and no later than the last day of August of the year after being awarded the fellowship.
The fellowship provides $25,000 (effective August 16, 2024), payable in either 9- or 12-month installments. It may not be held concurrently with any other fellowships, employment, or grants. The fellowship offer must be accepted in the terms in which it is offered.
The school’s executive committee is charged with selecting the dissertation completion award recipients. Nominees must be in a position to complete their dissertations within the fellowship period. Complete application instructions are posted here.

- Department deadline to submit to SLCL - send completed student application and departmental nomination to slclgradservices@illinois.edu on or before March 7, 2024.
